Meet Derrick Johnson, DDS, FAGD
Dr. Derrick Johnson graduated from The Ohio State University College of Dentistry in 1995, and has practiced dentistry for over 17 years.
Dr. Johnson was raised in Williard, Ohio, a small community near the Great Lakes in Ohio. After graduating dental school, he began his practice in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he served the dental needs of the Paradise Valley and Scottsdale areas for nearly fourteen years, establishing a reputation for providing state-of-the-art, integrated dental solutions for both treatment and prevention. He has completed post-doctoral curriculum studies with some of the world’s foremost dental clinicians, including Dr. Peter Dawson, Dr. Mark Piper, the California Implant Institute and the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. He has also completed a year-long implant and surgery residency at the Medical College of Georgia.
Dr. Johnson has extensive experience in general and reconstructive dentistry, treatment of TMJ dysfunction (including jaw joint and head and neck pain) esthetic dentistry and implant dentistry. However, the primary emphasis in all areas of his practice is the prevention of dental disease and teaching his patients how to care for their mouths.
Dr. Johnson enjoyed his time in the desert of Arizona, however he missed the slower pace, spaciousness and friendliness of a small community. He discovered Mountain Home in 2007 and fell in love with the area, especially the people and the scenic beauty.
In 2010, Dr. Johnson served as Assistant Professor in the Dental Hygiene Department at UAMS. He was the supervising dentist in the inaugural year of the local dental hygiene program.
In 2011, Dr. Johnson received his Fellowship in The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD). Fellows of the AGD follow a lifelong pursuit of continuing education in order to provide the highest quality of dental care to their patients. Only 7 percent of general dentists have achieved this distinction.
Dr. Johnson is currently a member of the Arkansas State Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry and the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicologoy. He is licensed to practice dentistry in Arkansas and Arizona.
Dr. Johnson has two lovely daughters and works alongside his wife, Nicole. When he is not practicing dentistry, he enjoys playing tennis, biking and training with his dog, Ingo.
