What is Invisalign®
Invisalign is an orthodontic alternative to traditional bracket and wire braces. Instead of brackets bonded to your teeth and threaded with wires, Invisalign uses a series of clear, smooth, nearly invisible removable alignment trays to shift your teeth into proper alignment. Invisalign can also correct minor to moderate problems with your bite, including an underbite, overbite, crossbite, and open bite.
If you are a good candidate for Invisalign, a series of painless digital scans will render a 3D image of your mouth. These digital impressions are used to create a custom treatment plan and series of alignment trays. You’ll be able to see what your smile will look like after completing treatment with Invisalign before you leave your appointment.
Benefits of Invisalign®
Invisalign offers benefits that both patients and dentists love, making it an extremely popular treatment for correcting imperfect smiles. Some of the benefits of Invisalign include:
- Removable trays allow you to eat whatever you want
- Clear trays are discreet, so most people don’t notice them
- Allows patients to brush the entire surface of their teeth, reducing the risk of discoloration from brackets
- Allows patients to floss normally, reducing the risk of gum disease and tooth decay
- Alignment trays are non-abrasive to the soft tissues of the cheeks
- Treatment may be shorter with Invisalign
- Trays may be removed and replaced with a mouth guard when engaging in sports
- Alignment trays are more comfortable than bracket and wire braces
- Patients begin seeing results in just weeks
- Fewer appointments during treatment time
- No need for uncomfortable tightening of wires during treatment
- No risk of wires snapping
Are You a Good Candidate for Invisalign®
Good candidates for Invisalign are teens and adults with all their adult teeth who do not have active gum disease. Invisalign can treat common alignment and bite problems, including:
- Gapped teeth
- Crowded teeth
- Crooked teeth
- Overlapping teeth
- Slanted teeth
- Open bite
Severe bite problems may require traditional brackets and wire braces. During your Invisalign consultation at Integrated Dentistry, Dr. Johnson will examine your mouth, teeth, and gums. He will use the painless iTero scanning wand to create a 3D image of your mouth. If you are a good candidate for Invisalign, your scans will be sent to the lab to create your series of alignment trays.

Frequently Asked Questions About Invisalign®
Does Invisalign hurt?
Invisalign is more comfortable than traditional braces. You will feel pressure rather than acute pain when repositioning the teeth or correcting a bite problem. The smooth alignment trays do not irritate the soft tissues of the cheeks or lips.
Will insurance cover Invisalign?
If your dental insurance offers coverage for orthodontic treatment, that coverage will typically apply to traditional braces or Invisalign. Be sure to check your policy for specific coverage. If you do not have dental insurance, or if your insurance doesn’t cover Invisalign, we offer various financing options, including CareCredit and LendingClub.
How long does Invisalign treatment take?
Invisalign can transform your smile quickly. If you only have a few crooked teeth to align, you may complete treatment in just six months. If most of your teeth are misaligned, treatment may take 18-24 months.
Do you offer Invisalign for teenagers?
Yes. Dr. Johnson has significant experience in successfully treating teens with Invisalign.
The best part about Invisalign® aligners is that they are virtually invisible- so the only thing people will notice is your beautiful smile!
